Stock trade notifications

January 31, 2012 by Jorge Morales

One of the things I enjoy doing at Coral CEA is that I get to work with Startups and other member companies to create new opportunities or initiate work among them.

Let’s take for example the Stock Tracker Application.

A collaboration between Cliniconex, Genband and Etrali.

This application prototype is designed to notify stockbrokers or stock traders when configurable thresholds have been reached and allow them to communicate with each other faster to buy or sell stocks. It uses the Genband A2 platform for the alerts and the calls. In the first demo scenario, a trader or broker is alerted that a stock has dropped by 10%. In the second scenario a call is placed between the broker and trader when the stock has dropped by 20%.

This demo made its debut at the SIFMA Financial Services Expo New York in June, 2011 in the Orange Business Services – Trading Solutions / Etrali North America booth.

In this collaboration I had the chance to use Genband’s A2 platform to notify via phone calls or client desktop notifications depending on the severity of the alert.

On the front end the D3.js library provides the graphical information of the current stock value and also visual information of the configured alert levels.

After the SIFMA Financial Services Expo we received great feedback from Orange, enough that the Startup company I was helping spawned a new business branch.
